Power BI & reportingClient delivery experience

Monthly brand reporting, ready in five days

A distributor of 100+ brands needed a different monthly report for each brand. Mehrab brought ERPNext and Salesforce data into one Power BI model, with checks before reports went out.

Earlier delivery at Invento
Mehrab’s illustrated project walkthrough. The slides explain the architecture and author reported results; they are not an independent performance audit. The written account below explains the workflow and scope.

Hardest individual report

Weeks → ~10 minutes

Report preparation time, as reported in Mehrab’s published project account.

Full monthly reporting cycle

A month → 5 days

The wider reporting cycle. This does not describe a ten minute month end close.

Every brand needed its own answer

The reporting team exported records from ERPNext and Salesforce, cleaned them and rebuilt each brand’s format in Excel. The hardest report took weeks; preparing the full set occupied the month.

The practical problem was the wait between having the records and having a checked report that someone could use.

Put recurring preparation into one model

Mehrab built the model, preparation steps, business calculations and quality checks. Power Query handled cleaning and incremental refresh. DAX held business rules, fiscal calendars and currency conversion.

Brand outputs drew from that shared model. A reconciliation matrix flagged mismatches before release, giving the team a place to review exceptions instead of copying figures into separate workbooks.

The team still reviews the exceptions

The published account reports no manual retyping in the new workflow. A flagged mismatch still needs someone to understand it before releasing a report.

For another business, the starting point is its reporting obligations: brand formats, fiscal periods, currency rules, source ownership and release checks.

What this work establishes

The author reports about 10 minutes for the hardest report and five days for the full monthly cycle. These are two different measures of the work.

Client identity and operational records remain private. Timings are the author’s reported delivery results, not an independently audited benchmark. The work was delivered during Mehrab’s role at Invento and is presented here as delivery experience.
